Headingley's thriving art scene will show off its work during the suburb's Arts Trail this weekend.
The event on Saturday and Sunday is partly inspired by the Saltaire Arts Trail.

It is being organised by the Bowery Gallery in Headingley along with artists' groups from the area.

Organsier Hana Gilbert said: "We've been planning this for months. We have had a lot of interest from artists who really want to open their own homes to showcase our area's art."

Over 80 artists from across Yorkshire will be displaying their work in homes and bars throughout Headingley – with the trail culminating at the Hyde Park Picture House.

A total of 15 venues, including Arcadia bar and Salvo's restaurant, will be open for the public to visit over the two days and many works will be for sale.

Julia keates, who will be displaying art in her home, said: "In Headingley there's a real buzz about art at the moment.

"I'm a bit nervous about people coming here, to my house, but I'm excited about the chance to show off what Headingley has to offer."

The event launches on Friday with a free evening of entertainment, mulled wine and mince pies open to all at the Bowery.
