  1. Last night was our jewellery felting workshop.

I did the workshop on my own as there were only 2 people attending. I really enjoyed it as everyone was enthusiastic and got to grips with the different techniques quite quickly.

We started by making rolled felt sausages which can be turned into felt discs and used as beads, We didn get to finish the discs as they work best when they are left to dry then cut. Its a great suprise waiting to find out how they have turned out.

Then we made some giant felt balls by building up layers of different coloured fleec into a ball shape and rolling it until the ball is felted. This can then be cut in half and made into earings or a necklace. This also has to dry before being cut.

  2. plum tree 1

This is the beginning of the next step of The Plum Tree in Kirkgate market. This is the unit next to ours which is about three times as big and has 2 sides to it, one of which is a window. The shop interior is going to be amazing, large glass cabinates, chandeliers and an old chemist unit for the counter.

  3. The Company I work for had recently rebranded and had also built a new creative design studio so wanted some art to go outside the entrance.

The piece measured about 100 x 60mm and was mounted on a wooden frame.

I started by making the white base then I made the wooden frame to mount it on.

I finished the piece by needle felting the company logo -

in navy blue fleece. The finished felt was then mounted on to the wooden frame, I didnt add any hooks or wire for hanging as it just needed a nail in the wall.

  4. reetsweet1 Today was the Reetsweet Valentines Craft fair @ The corn exchange in the centre of Leeds. I wasnt expecting many people to turn up as it was a Sunday and the weather was typical for Leeds, Cloudy and windy, but the turn out was great!

Loads of people were enjoying the stalls and the regular shops that are in the corn exchange. The farmers market was on as well so this may have contributed to the large number of people in town. I did quite well and as it was my first fair of 2011 it was a good start to the year.
